1. How do I license my dog?

A dog license can be obtained by either, mailing to or coming to City Hall with the following infomration:
a. A current rabies immunization certificate.
b. Veterinarian certification of spay/neuter if applicable.
c. The license fee is $12.00 if the pet is spayed or neutered or $29.00 if not.

2. Who takes care of skunks and raccoons?

The Health and Inspections Department will try and remove those animals that pose an immediate health risk to the public. City staff do not handle non-emergency animal problems such as skunks, raccoons, woodchucks, squirrels, bats, rabbits and rodents. Property owners are referred to commercial pest control operators or licensed trappers. Please view the list of licensed trappers.

3. How many pets can I have in my home?

Please see chart below for examples. Exceeding these limits is not healthy for the animals or human residents and is against the law. Exceptions to these limits are allowed in limited circumstances including military deployment and recognized animal shelter foster care with a permit from the Health and Inspections Department. Keep in mind that non-domestic animals are not allowed in the city with the exception of some rural residential and agriculturally zoned property. 4. What can I do about a neighbor's barking dog?

Dogs do bark! If they bark only when someone walks by it is not a violation. However dogs that habitually bark, whine, or howl create a nuisance for the neighborhood. Barking that goes on for over six minutes is subject to an immediate $250 administrative citation when documented by the animal control officer. Call the Health and Inspections Department at 320-650-3164 if the dog is barking during business hours. The Animal Control Officer will investigate and notify the owner. Call the Police Department and request an officer be dispatched to the offending address if after hours. See attached information on
