Men have a number of unique opportunities for healthy aging. This series is designed to provide a series of topics on the ways in which men can take charge of their health, prevent those conditions which are preventable, and be agents in their health. We also invite those who love their men to join us in this series.
We plan to have a monthly series with speakers who are experts on the topic and provide time for questions and discussions.
June 8: Men’s Relationships: How Do We Interact in Unique Ways
July 13: Men as Caregivers
This series is organized by Dr. Steve Hoover, Healthy Aging Coordinator, Central Minnesota Council on Aging. While at SCSU, Dr. Hoover taught the first course in the Minnesota University system on men: Boys, Men and Masculinities. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the American Men’s Studies Association.
The series on Men’s Health is co-sponsored by the Central Minnesota Council on Aging and by a grant from the Central Minnesota United Way.

This is a beginner-friendly session where CW Outfitting staff will offer both on-land and on-water instruction to those who are new to Stand Up Paddle (SUP) or want to improve their SUP boarding skills. Many people will start using the SUP boards by laying, sitting, and/or kneeling on them while paddling. To stand while using a SUP board, you will need to have the flexibility and strength to go from a kneeling position to a standing position without help. No lifeguard will be present. Prices include all equipment (board, paddle, life jacket) and instruction. The fee for the class is $18.00, if you are not a Whitney Senior Center member you will also need to purchase a day pass for $5.00.
