1. Do I need a permit to work in the right-of-way (i.e., dig in the street, install a driveway approach, etc.)?

A permit is required when work is done in the public right-of-way or when there is an obstruction in the public right-of-way. The public right-of-way includes streets, sidewalks, alleys, driveway aprons, and other rights-of-way dedicated for public use. For more information on required permits, please see the Permits page.

2. How do I find out about future construction projects proposed for my neighborhood?

You can find proposed construction projects in the Capital Improvement Program, which is a 6-year plan used to identify and coordinate public needs in the city based on existing plans, goals, and resources. Capital Improvement Program

4. How do I get a copy of my lot dimensions?

Copies of the plat for your property that contain lot dimensions can be obtained through SCGIS Property Search. If you need your property irons set, you must contact a licensed land surveyor.

5. How do I find my property irons?

It is the property owners' responsibility to determine where the property lines are. Property iron stakes are placed at the corners of the lot usually at or below grade, and sometimes can be found using a metal detector. The city does not provide surveying services.
