1. How do I report a crime?

• If the crime is in-progress, call 9-1-1.


• If the crime has already occurred and an officer is needed to respond, call 9-1-1 or (320) 251-1200 to report it to the Dispatch Center.


• If the crime has already been committed and an officer is not needed to respond, or if a report is needed for documentation purposes only, call the St. Cloud Police Department Front Desk at (320) 345-4444 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.

A community service officer will advise and assist you in your request. The cost for a copy of the state accident report is $.25 per page. and the person requesting the informaiton must be one of the parties involved in accident, a representative of the listed insurance agency with a signed waiver, or legal representative of the person listed on the accident form. Be sure to bring proper identification.

4. Where is the St. Cloud Police Department located?

The St. Cloud Police Department is located at 101 11th Avenue North.

5. Where can I apply for a gun permit?

Applicants for permits to purchase handguns must apply in person to the police department in the city in which they live. They must also present a valid Minnesota driver’s license or identification card with their current address. If the applicant does not live in a city, they must apply at the Sheriff’s Office of the county they reside. City of St. Cloud residents may apply for a Permit to Purchase (not a Permit to Carry) at the St. Cloud Police Department, 101 11th Avenue North, St. Cloud, MN 56303. The Information Desk is open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

6. Where can I apply for a permit to conceal and carry?

State of Minnesota Permits to Carry must be requested through the Sheriff's Department of the county in which you reside.

7. How or Where can I dispose of my old prescription medications?

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office, 807 Courthouse Square, St. Cloud, MN, currently has a drop-box for old/unwanted prescription medications in their lobby.

8. How do I find out if my car was towed?

Call the Information Desk at (320) 345-4444. You must provide the license plate number for the vehicle for the Community Service Officer to check the tow logs for that information.

9. How do I report an illegally parked vehicle?

Call parking violations at (320) 255-7209. Please be sure to include the location, the type of violation, and description of the vehicle (with license plate) if possible.

10. Where can I be fingerprinted?

Currently the St. Cloud Police Department does not provide this service. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office does provide fingerprinting on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. Call the Stearns County Sheriff's Office at (320) 259-3700 for more information.

11. Is it possible to tour the St. Cloud Police Department?

Depending on the level of the offense and the location of the violation, there are three courthouses that serve the City of St. Cloud.
