During TED Circles, a small group of Whitney Seniors listen to a TED Talk and share their thoughts about the ideas in it. During December we feature talks by leaders who have started civic movements that have gathered momentum and expanded beyond their dreams.

The TED TALK on Tuesday, December 22 features Bunker Roy a speaker from India, whom our host, Lalita, discovered was coincidentally born and raised in the same small town as she. "I hope you participate and are as inspired by Bunker's work as I was!" she said.

Bunker Roy: Learning from a barefoot movement | TED Talk
In Rajasthan, India, an extraordinary school teaches rural women and men -- many of them illiterate -- to become solar engineers, artisans, dentists and doctors in their own villages. It's called the Barefoot College, and its founder, Bunker Roy, explains how it works.
