The St. Cloud Police Department (SCPD) Community Engagement Division’s Internship Program entails more than just experience with police officers. In addition to learning about law enforcement, interns experience community policing in action. This includes exposure to School Resource Officers (SRO), the Community Crime Impact Team (CCIT), and the Community Response Team (CRT).
The SCPD School Resource Officers are assigned to the District 742 schools within the City of St. Cloud working with the staff and students. CCIT includes the Mental-Health Co-Responders, homeless outreach and a threat assessment officer. When assigned to these units, interns will ride along and observe the above-mentioned officers in their role.
Summer Semester - April 1st
Fall Semester - July 1st
Spring Semester - November 1st
For part-time employment, along with an internship, submit an employment application anytime.
Majority of the internship will be with CRT and working out of the COP House. Interns will be required to assist in planning, organizing and executing COP House programming. A few notable programs are COP House Hockey, Southside Hoops and Police Activities League (PAL). Interns are assigned a program or project through the COP house to independently run and will be assessed on.
We encourage students from all fields to apply. The COP House has many community partners who provide experience in a variety of fields; a few of these include CentraCare, Boys and Girls Club, and Stearns County Public Health.
