Yard Waste Disposal

St. Cloud uses a volume-based yard waste collection system. All of the yard waste collected by the City is composted. Yard waste is picked on Mondays throughout the City, spring - fall. Yard waste is scheduled to begin on April 3, 2023 and end on November 20, 2023 (weather permitting).

There will be NO yard waste pickup on the following Mondays:

  • Monday, April 10, 2023
  • Monday, May 29, 2023
  • Monday, September 4, 2023

Refuse and recycling customers are required to use specially marked "City" bags for yard waste. Yard waste bags are clear compostable bags with the City logo imprinted on them.

The cost for yard waste service is $1.25 per City yard waste bag (sold in quantities of 10; cost $12.50 per package) Bags are 30 gallons in capacity. No bags other than specially marked "City" bags will be picked up. Only purchase bags as needed due to the shelf-life of compostable bags.

Simply fill and tie shut (you must knot the bag; do NOT use zip ties, wire ties, string, twine, etc.) Do not exceed 40 pounds of yard waste in bag (overfilled, ripped or untied bags will not be collected) Place filled bags at pickup location as soon as possible to avoid decomposition prior to pick up. Put bags out for collection no later than 6:00 a.m. on designated Mondays between mid-April and mid-November. There is no limit to the number of bags you can place out for collection. Yard waste includes grass clippings, leaves, pine cones, pine needles, pumpkins, acorns, apples, small twigs (no bigger in diameter or length than a pencil). Yard waste mixed with rocks, Styrofoam, animal feces, food scraps or other foreign materials is unacceptable.
