The mission of the Planning Office is to create a high quality environment in which current and future generations can live, work, and play.
The St. Cloud 2003 Comprehensive Plan establishes a community based vision for the future of the community. This vision calls for St. Cloud to be a place:

- That recognizes the importance of the Mississippi and Sauk Rivers
- Where development is compatible with the environment

- With a strong, diverse, and growing downtown
- That is aesthetically pleasing
- Of quality neighborhoods

- Accepting of diverse populations and opinions
- Where an effective public/private transportation system is available
