Yard Waste Disposal

Volume Based Collection System
St. Cloud uses a volume-based yard waste collection system. All of the yard waste collected weekly at curbside is hauled to the city's compost site. The yard waste and brush are placed into windrows to start the composting process. Once this material is thoroughly decomposed, it is run through a screener to remove rocks, sticks, paper, plastic and other unwanted materials.

Yard Waste Schedule for 2014
Yard waste collection will be every Monday beginning April 14, 2014 through November 24, 2014. There will be no yard waste pickup on Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2014.
New Brush Regulations
Because brush and woody or vine-type plants do not decompose readily, this results in problems during the screening process. To facilitate the screening process, the city is requiring residents to follow these new regulations for collection:

Tree waste including branches, sticks, shrubs or bushes, cornstalks and woody or vine-type plants can no longer be placed in city yard waste bags. All brush (this includes all diameters) and woody or vine-type plants need to be bundled in 4 foot by 1 foot bundles and tied with twine or heavy string (no duct tape). Attach a yard waste bag to each bundle for collection or call Public Works at 320-650-2900 to arrange for a special pickup. See "Special Yard Waste Collection Service" for additional information.
